As a new (ish) mom, it's been a little more difficult lately to get my travel fix. I've been waiting to travel internationally until my daughter receives all of her "baby" immunizations, which will happen in a few short months at her 18-month appointment. Until then, we've been satisfying our need for travel with road trips around our area in Utah!
Last spring some good friends invited us to spend a week in St. George, Utah with them, and although everyone we spoke to thought we were crazy to do a 6 hour road trip with an infant, it ended up being a fantastic experience.
I like to fancy myself as something of a road trip expert, but road trippin' with a baby is a whole different ball game! We discovered that lots of kid-friendly music (that we can also stand listening to) and frequent stops were a must, and although the 6 hour trip turned into more like 8 hours, we were rewarded with beautiful, warm weather, palm trees, and a dip in the pool at the end of it.
We spent the week enjoying the sun, swimming, grilling on our condo's deck overlooking the pool, experiencing our first In-N-Out Burger, and shopping at the factory outlets. We also had a wonderful day visiting Zion's National Park. An easy hike from the Temple of Sinawava trailhead was a perfect way to take in the scenery with a little one.
Have you taken a road trip with a baby/toddler? Any tips you'd like to share?

It's a cold, snowy day here in Utah, and oh, how I'm dreaming of Kauai. It's been exactly two years since I was there, and that warm, tropical breeze is just what I need right about now.
This is the view from our balcony at the Marriott Waiohai Beach Club on Poipu Beach. Walk to the left for about 30 seconds and you will reach one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen, complete with sea turtles, surfers, a seal or two, and a protected cove full of colorful fish, perfect for snorkeling. Ahhh...
What location are you currently dreaming of?
